PJ Holberg allowed just four hits and one run while striking out five over six innings as Lilly Conrad Chiropractic edged Sheetz, 2-1, at Juniata on Wednesday in Altoona Greater City Baseball League action.

CJ McCoy went 3-for-3 and drove in both runs for Lilly, which improved to 2-0. Parker Gregg went 2-for-3, and Joseph Speece drove in a run for Sheetz.

Local tournament set

A 14U baseball tournament involving local teams and some from Virginia and Maryland is scheduled for this weekend at Altoona’s Vets Field.

The eight-team Veterans Memorial Day Showdown is slated to begin at 5:45 p.m. on Friday and could wrap up with the championship game Sunday night, but could also run into Monday due to weather issues.

Teams include Flood City Elite from Altoona, Mid State Expos from Bellwood, King’s Academy 14u from Tyrone, Bases Loaded Baseball from Johnstown, Clinton County Hammers from Lock Haven, RBI Redwings from McDonald, Jarrettsville Hawks from Jarrettsville, Md., and Stars Baseball Kelly from Haymarket, Va.
