Tigers grad having solid sophomore year at Juniata College

HUNTINGDON — Max Baronner is a sophomore member of the Juniata College men’s swim team this season.

A graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School, Baronner has broken an individual record for the team as well as being a part of three relay teams that set new school records.

Baronner has the new school record in the 100 breaststroke of 1:03.23, breaking a mark that was set in 1992. He is part of the 400 medley relay team with a new school mark of 3:44.42, the 200 medley relay team with a new mark of 1:40.92 and the 800 freestyle relay team with a new mark of 7:29.75.

All three previous marks were set in 1992.

MVL stars named

The Moshannon Valley League released its basketball all-stars on Friday.

On the boys side, Glendale’s Rhylan Hoopsick-Bell was the league MVP. For the Lady Vikings, Gabriella Lieden and Brielle McMillen were all-stars.

The rest of the team on the boys side include West Branch’s Easton Emigh and Dylan McGonigal, Harmony’s Brady Hagens and Bryson Hagens, and Moshannon Valley’s Kaden Mills.

On the girls side, Mo Valley’s Lily Switala was the league’s most valuable player. Joining Lieden and McMillen on all-stars were West Branch’s Nola Briscoe, Moshannon Valley’s Alexis Clarkson and Roxie Wagner and Curwensville’s Briah Peoples.

Wrestlers done

EWING, N.J. — The Penn State Altoona men’s wrestling team finished its season on Friday at the NCAA Division III Regional 3 Tournament hosted by the College of New Jersey.

Competing for PSU Altoona were Santana Hernandez and Andrew Weaver, who both were eliminated in the consolation rounds.
