The Red Flash battled back to tie the contest at 50-50 on a free throw by Sonia Sato with 2:55 remaining in the third. SFU men’s game called off tonight

LORETTO — The Saint Francis men’s basketball game at Chicago State, originally scheduled for tonight has been postponed. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m.

With this change, the Red Flash will play four road games in eight days: Mercyhurst (Feb. 5), Le Moyne (Feb. 7), Chicago State (Feb. 9) and FDU (Feb. 12).

This is the second consecutive game the Red Flash has had postponed, following the Jan. 24 game at New Haven, which was postponed due to inclement weather. A makeup date is to be announced.

Saint Francis returns to action on Saturday at home against New Haven. Game time is 7 p.m. Prior to the game, Saint Francis will honor senior team manager Matthew Hall, a Northern Bedford graduate.

Lady Lions still Big Ten winless

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s basketball team fell to 7-15 overall and 0-11 in the Big Ten Wednesday night, falling 87-66 to Minnesota at Rec Hall.

Kiyomi McMiller led the Lady Lions with 23 points. Moriah Murray added 16 points, while teammate Tia Cleante chipped in with 11 points.

The Lady Lions leading scorer, Gracie Merkle, did not play. No reason was given.

Minneosta, 15-6 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten, got 23 points from Tori McKinney and 22 points from Mara Braun.

Penn State is off until Wednesday, Feb. 4, when it plays at Purdue.

Lady Lions cruise past Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD — The Penn State Altoona women’s basketball team jumped out to a 30-10 first-quarter lead Wednesday night en route to an 89-51 win over Pitt-Bradford.

Avana Sayles scored 19 points for PSU Altoona, which improved to 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

Lanie Wilt and Allyana Stephens each totaled 12 points to go with 10 each from Madison Rusnica and Haley Hicks.

Lions poor first half costly

BRADFORD — The Penn State Altoona men’s basketball team fell behind 50-28 at halftime on the way to a 104-78 loss at Pitt-Bradford Wednesday night.

Kaden Claar led Penn State (8-9, AMCC (2-6) with 18 points to go with 16 points from Rasheed Daniels.

LeBron loses in return to Ohio

CLEVELAND — Donovan Mitchell scored 25 points, Jaylon Tyson had 20 and the Cleveland Cavaliers used a big third quarter to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 129-99 and spoil LeBron James’ return to northeast Ohio.

De’Andre Hunter added 19 points, and Jarrett Allen had 17 points and nine rebounds to help Cleveland to its season-best fifth straight victory. James had only 11 points, the first time in 13 trips to Cleveland as an opposing player he has not had at least 20. The 41-year old Akron native was 3 of 10 from the field, including 0 of 3 on 3-pointers, and was 5 of 6 from the line in 27 minutes.
