Red Flash defeated on the road

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Xaivian Lee scored 18 points, Alex Condon added 14, and No. 23 Florida got a break from one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country with a 102-61 victory against Saint Francis on Wednesday night.

The Gators (7-4) never trailed in the game.

Saint Francis (2-10) lost by at least 25 points for the seventh time this season. The Red Flash entered the game ranked 361st out of 365 Division I teams in KenPom ratings. They are also in their final year at Division I after announcing a little over a year ago that they were dropping down to Division III.

Skylar Wicks, a senior attending his fifth school, led Saint Francis with 22 points. He took 22 of the team’s 63 shots.

The Red Flash entered the game as 45½-point underdogs according to BetMGM Sportsbook and trailed by as many as 25 in the first half. The Gators stretched their lead to 61-31 shortly after the break.

Florida made 15 of its first 20 shots while building a 20-point lead and enjoyed enough of a cushion that coach Todd Golden was able to get his bench extended minutes.

The Red Flash host Robert Morris this Saturday.

Dunning, Cummings lead Pitt to easy win

PITTSBURGH — Barry Dunning Jr. and Brandin Cummings combined for 34 first-half points — each with 17 — to lead Pittsburgh’s 103-63 win over Binghamton on Wednesday.

Dunning was 5 of 7 and Cummings was 3 of 6 from deep. Dunning finished with 23 on 7-of-9 shooting to go with three blocks off the bench. Cummings didn’t score after the opening half.

Nojus Indrusaitis finished with 16 points, going 5 of 9 from the field and 3 of 6 behind the arc. He also had five assists, four rebounds and four steals. Cameron Corhen added 14 points, six rebounds and three steals.

The Panthers (6-6) shot 62% from the field, including 59% from behind the arc.

They opened the game on a 14-2 run and rattled off a 14-0 run later in the half to take a 57-34 lead into the break.

Demetrius Lilley led the Bearcats (3-9) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Blackburn added 12 off the bench, going 4 of 4 from both the field and the free-throw line. Jeremiah Quigley also had 12 points, along with eight turnovers.

The Panthers scored 33 points off 22 Bearcats turnovers.

Pitt plays Penn State this Saturday in Hershey.
