Pitt volleyball honors keep coming

PITTSBURGH — Three Pitt Panthers women’s volleyball players were named AVCA All-Americans this week as Olivia Babcock, Brooke Mosher and Bre Kelley earned national recognition for their standout 2025 seasons.

Babcock collected first-team All-America honors for the third consecutive year. A finalist for AVCA National Player of the Year, she also earned ACC Player of the Year, AVCA East Coast Region Player of the Year and first-team All-ACC accolades.

She helped lead the Panthers to their fifth straight national semifinal and was named the Pittsburgh Regional Most Outstanding Player after averaging 6.00 kills per set, 1.71 assists per set and 0.71 blocks per set against Minnesota and Purdue.

Babcock ranks among the nation’s top five in four statistical categories, placing third in total points (721.5) and total kills (624), fourth in points per set (5.91) and fifth in kills per set (5.11).

Mosher earned second-team All-America honors in her first and final season as a Panther. She was also named first-team All-ACC and selected to the AVCA East Coast Region Team. Kelley received honorable mention All-America recognition in her redshirt senior campaign. She made history as the program’s first ACC Defensive Player of the Year while also earning first-team All-ACC and AVCA East Coast Region Team honors.

PSU Altoona honors

The College Sports Communicators released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District women’s volleyball team and it includes four student-athletes from the Penn State Altoona squad.

They are junior Lia Simanski (Bishop Guilfoyle), sopphomore Ella Hadley, junior Julia Emel and sophomore Maggie Brewer.

To be eligible for a spot on the Academic All-District team, student-athletes must meet certain academic and athletic requirements. Academically, student-athletes must be at least sophomores while holding cumulative grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Athletically, players must be starters or key reserves who have played in at least 90 percent of their team’s matches or started 66 percent of the matches. Nominators could submit up to four qualified student-athletes per team.

George recognized

BEREA, Ohio — Abby George is one of 97 Baldwin Wallace University athletes who were named to the 2025 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors team.

A graduate of Central Cambria, George is a member of the school’s cross country team.

To make the list, a student must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a grade-point average of 3.50.
