50 years ago: Nov. 5, 1975 -- The Altoona Recreation Commission announced plans for tennis instructions at the Howard Avenue Armory for boys and girls in elementary, junior high school, senior high school and adult classes, with Herb Faris as the instructor.
25 years ago: Nov. 5, 2000 -- In the District 6 high school football playoffs at Mansion Park, Adam James, with an injured ankle, ran 65 yards for the winning touchdown as Bishop Guilfoyle won, 36-29, over Portage with 1:30 left in the game.
10 years ago: Nov. 5, 2015 -- The Bishop Guilfoyle High School girls soccer team won its second District 6 Class 1A title with a 7-0 victory over Moshannon Valley at Mansion Park. Alyssa McGhee scored three goals for the Lady Marauders.
