Hollidaysburg grads part of wrestling history

WINCHESTER, Va. — The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College wrestling program kicked off its inaugural campaign recently with a tri-meet at Shenandoah University.
The Black Bears came up short in both matches, falling to the University of Scranton, 41-18, and host Shenandoah, 49-6.
Hollidaysburg graduates, and brothers, Logan Krupka and Carson Krupka both recorded wins by pinfall. Logan’s pin of Scranton’s Alexander Santora in 4:35 was the first victory in program history. Carson followed by pinning Shkeb Nadir in 7:00.
No. 8 seed for PSU
UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s soccer program secured an at-large selection in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championships on Monday.
The Lady Lions were selected as the No. 8 seed in the Charlottesville regional, the 19th seeded selection in program history. Penn State (9-7-3) welcomes the Patriot League Champion Army Black Knights (14-5-2) to Jeffrey Field this Saturday at 5 p.m.
Ticketing information will be released later this week.
Lady Lion honored
Penn State Altoona freshman Gianna Slusser was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
Slusser got a win in the 131 bout last week against Waynesburg’s Melanie Matherson in 4:02. The victory was her fifth match win of the season.
Penn State Altoona lost 30-24.
