EBENSBURG -- The Ebensburg Turkey Trot 5K returns on Thanksgiving morning (Nov. 27).
Hosted at the Dauntless Fire Station, where the race both begins and ends, the holiday tradition is already seeing strong early registration.
With 737 runners currently signed up and an expected 15% increase before race day, participation is on track to exceed 850 runners. Racers range from ages 5 to 80, with an average age of 33.
While most runners hail from Pennsylvania, the event will also welcome participants from 16 additional states.
This year's race will also feature:
– Several local music groups performing live along the course to keep runners energized
– A community effort to collect food and hygiene goods benefiting the Dorothy Day Outreach Center
– A charitable donation made to the Dauntless Fire Company, supporting the volunteers who help keep the town safe year-round

Swimmer honored
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Penn State Altoona freshman Drew Porter was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday afternoon, when the league released its weekly swim awards.
Porter had a trio of individual first-place finishes in Penn State Altoona's dual meet at Lock Haven.
