UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State senior running back Kaytron Allen was tabbed Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. He helped the Nittany Lions to a 37-10 win over Nebraska on Saturday.
Allen repeated as Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week after winning it on November 17 for his performance against Michigan State.
He tallied 160 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries against Nebraska, including a 50-yard run, for his fourth 100-yard game this season. He scored on runs of 3 and 13 yards. On a 3-yard rush in the fourth quarter, Allen (3,954) became the all-time career rushing yards leader at Penn State, passing Evan Royster (3,932; 2007-10). On the day, Allen also moved past Saquon Barkley (3,843; 2015-17).
Allen is now 46 yards away from becoming the 23rd Big Ten player, since 1956, to reach 4,000 career rushing yards. On a 2-yard rush in the second quarter, Allen went over the 1,000-rushing yard mark for the season. He now has a total of 1,077 rushing yards this season.
Pitt duo recognized
PITTSBURGH — Pitt running back Ja’Kyrian Turner and linebacker Braylan Lovelace earned ACC football player of the week honors for their performances in Pitt’s win at No. 16 Georgia Tech.
True freshman Ja’Kyrian Turner rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown, earning him both ACC Rookie of the Week and ACC Running Back of the Week. He became Pitt’s first 200-yard rusher since Israel Abanikanda in 2022.
The Wildwood, FL native led all ACC players last week in rushing yards (201), rushing average (9.6), and all-purpose yards (213). His rushing and all-purpose yardage totals were both single-game highs among all ACC freshmen this season.
Linebacker Braylan Lovelace recorded four tackles and an interception that he returned 100 yards for a touchdown on Saturday night at No. 16 Georgia Tech.
His pick-six flipped the momentum in Pitt’s road win and is the longest interception return for a touchdown by an ACC linebacker since at least 1996.
