Bishop Guilfoyle girls soccer team falls short in title game

MANCHESTER — Bishop Guilfoyle Academy fell to Faith Christian Academy, 2-0, in the PIAA Class 1A girls soccer championship game Saturday at Bobcat Stadium on the campus of Northeastern High School.

Sophia Dennis scored both goals for the Lady Lions, the District 1 champions who knocked off two-time defending state champion Dock Mennonite in the district title game.

The Lady Marauders made history with their state finals appearance, becoming the first Blair County team to reach the PIAA soccer final.

Seniors Payton Ronan, Delaney Lechner and Hailey DeGol accepted the state runner-up trophy as BG was awarded silver medals after finishing a 21-2 season.
