Golden Tigers capture first-ever Big Cat high school golf event

Hollidaysburg defeated Altoona in the 2025 Big Cat Challenge in the second playoff hole on Thursday in high school play at Park Hills Country Club.
The Big Cat Challenge, a Ryder Cup scoring format, was tied between the Mountain Lions and Golden Tigers at 7 ½ each.
Hollidaysburg’s Tyler Steiner and Sam McLanahan defeated Altoona’s Adam Kanouff and Kreighoff Cumming with a par on the second playoff hole on No. 9.
Points came in a best ball, alternate shot, and scramble format.
The Tigers earned wins from Steiner and Landen Petrunak, and Carter Mika and Beau Rabel. McLanahan and Jayden Wolfe, and Isaac Tryninewski and Dom Johnston both earned a point, as well.
Altoona picked up victories from Kanouff and Reese Hite, Cumming and Luke Schimmger, and Owen White and Brycen Monahan. They also got half of a point from Brandt Hite and Anthony Riccio.

Lady Eagles fall
EVERETT — Tyrone saw its record fall to 7-7 with a 4-1 loss to Everett in girls high school tennis.
The Lady Eagles got their lone win from Jocelyn Diehl at No. 3, a 10-8 victory over Rhianna Reaugh.

CC loses
Bedford defeated Central Cambria, 4-1, in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference girls semifinals in tennis.
The Lady Bisons will play Hollidaysburg next week in the finals. No other information was reported to the Mirror.
