CRESSON -- Brett Smith, David DeGol Sr. and Ed Dongell shot a 62 to win the Summit Country Club's fall three-man scramble by one stroke.
The teams of Jacob Martynuska, Brodie O'Donnell and Kraig O'Donnell and Doug Labarko, Tony Mignogna and Anthony Mignogna shot a 63 to finish tied for runner-up.
Huntingdon
HUNTINGDON -- The team of Geoff Clarke and Bob Lamey defeated Phil Thompson and Keith Black to win the Big Orange Golf League title at the Huntingdon Country Club.
Clarke-Lamey tandem started with a Clarke birdie on No. 1 for a two-point lead. After nine holes, the lead was at four.
The Thompson-Black team had a comeback but it fell short when the match ended on No. 16. Clarke was the medalist at 72 with Thompson and Lamey each shooting a 74 and Black an 86.
This was the 48th season for the Big Orange League at the HCC. Other members included Alan Herbster, Larry Newton, Ed Gargula and Gerry Huggler.
Sylvan Hills
HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The team of Jim Burke, Rodger Fair and Don Stubbs shot a 34 to win the Butch Focht Senior Tournament at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.
Finishing second at 35 on a cardoff ws the team of Gary Zimmerman, Dave Biseli and Bill Blanset. Third-place honors went to John Roland, Robin Weaver and Gary Phennicie.
In other action, the team of David Johns, Paul Conway, Rosey McCoy and Brenda Flick finished at 33 to win the Jack and Jill Scramble.
Taking second at 34 was the team of Herb Bolger, Stubbs, Lynn Durbin and Sandy Murphy. Winning on a cardoff with a 35 was the team of John Roland, Bruno Felus, Kim Straesser and Pam Ergler. They won over Bob Buck, Shawn Breslin, Margie Coho and Molly Goldstein.
Holes-in-one
– Cindy Gonyea made a hole-in-one at the Cambrian Hills Golf Course. Gonyea made the shot on No. 4, 105-yards long using a driver. It was the third hole-in-one of her career. It was witnessed by Randy Dubetsky and Buddy Polenik.
– Scott Meredith aced the par 3 16th hole at Sinking Valley Country Club off the gold tees using a 7-iron. Ed Jaskowak and Bob Hopkins witnessed the shot.
