WILLIAMSPORT -- Sophia O'Dea broke a scoreless deadlock 3:10 into the second overtime period on an assist from Ajaycia Alexander as Altoona edged Williamsport, 1-0, in high school girls soccer action at Balls Mill Complex on Saturday.

Altoona keeper Haylee Rodriguez recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

Heights girls win

JOHNSTOWN -- The Cambria Heights girls soccer team edged Westmont Hilltop, 3-2, in double overtime on Saturday.

Ella Lamb scored the winning goal on an assist from Autumn Groer as Heights overcame a 2-0 deficit. Lamb added a goal in the second half on an assist from Brooklyn Galinis, who scored the Lady Highlanders' first goal.

Lady Spikers goes 0-7

MECHANICSBURG -- The Altoona Area High School girls volleyball team went 0-7 in the Cumberland Valley Tournament on Saturday, losing to Clarion, 25-17, in the Silver Division play-in round.

In pool play, Altoona lost to ACC, 25-19, 25-23; Spring Grove, 25-14, 25-16; and Upper Dublin, 25-16, 25-19.

Annalyse Yost led Altoona with 16 kills, Marina Petucci had 25 digs, Maraya Bittner had 23 assists, and Addy Mitchell added eight kills and eight digs.

Cross country

CC boys place sixth

HERSHEY -- The Central Cambria High School boys cross country team ended up in sixth place in Class 2A in the PIAA Foundation Meet on Saturday.

Hughesville won the 2A boys team title. Central Cambria's Ethan Haycisak finished 14th in a time of 17 minutes, 12.8 seconds, Reed Takacs was 34th in 17:57.0, and Miles Doyle was 35th in 17:57.1.

Portage sophomore Josephine White finished 34th in the Class 1A girls race with a time of 22:38.2, and Portage's Logan Gentile was 69th in 1A boys in 19:26.0.

Altoona triumphs

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Altoona JV football team defeated Hollidaysburg, 41-14, Saturday morning.

Dom Picciotti tossed two touchdown passes to go with one each from Ryan Aiken and Vinny Nedimyer. Davion Diehl caught two touchdown passes.

Hollidaysburg got a touchdown run from Christian Sapko and Colin Miknis caught a touchdown pass from Sam Consiglio.
