Central boys golf’s Cody Clapper medals at LHAC event

ORE HILL -- Central's Cody Clapper was the medalist with a 75 in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference golf match at Iron Masters Country Club on Thursday.
Penn Cambria went 5-0 in the match, edging Central Cambria by a single stroke, 328-329, and was led by Callen Gides' 79. Colten Karlheim and Kingston Durbin each added 80s for the Panthers. But the Red Devils, who got a 77 from Jake Kirsch, clinched the LHAC Section 2 team championship by finishing 14-1 in division. Andrew Kasecky carded an 82 for Central Cambria.
Central went 3-2 and also got an 85 from Rory Martin.
Trenton Ripple led Bedford, which went 2-3, with a 76. That score was matched by Bishop Carroll Catholic's Jace Casses, and the Huskies went 1-4.
Colton Boozer's 97 was best for Chestnut Ridge, which finished section play winless.

Crosby Denis, Olivia Panaro and Rina Stiffler won singles matches for Hollidaysburg in a 5-0 victory over Huntingdon at the Summit Tennis & Athletic Center in high school girls tennis.
Sandy Zheng and Katherine Wang won at No. 1 doubles, and Lainey Williams and Selina Dong were victorious at No. 2 doubles for the Lady Tigers.
