Central Mountain star Addison Lindsay wins District 6 3A tennis title; Hollidaysburg’s Crosby Denis is runner-up
Defending PIAA Class 3A individual champion Addison Lindsay of Central Mountain cruised to the District 4-6 Class 3A championship match by winning two matches Tuesday at Mansion Park.
Lindsay was set to square off against second-seeded Crosby Denis of Hollidaysburg, who rolled past Audrey Dincher of Williamsport in the quarterfinals and survived a tough test against State College’s Joanna Liu in the semifinals, in today’s final.
However, Denis sustained an injury during her victory and will not be able to compete in the championship match, making Lindsay the District 4-6 Class 3A champion by injury default.
Lindsay had defeated Denis in the district finals the previous two seasons.
Hollidaysburg’s Grace Muriceak also won two matches and advanced to the semifinals before she lost to Lindsay.
Skylar Irwin and Andie Adams of Altoona won first round matches before falling in the quarterfinals.
Central Cambria’s Lydia Paskowski and Central’s Kate Dunn will play in the District 6 Class 2A championship match at Mansion Park today at 11:30 a.m.
