PITTSBURGH -- Pitt redshirt junior Kyle Louis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Linebacker of the Week for his play in the Panthers' 61-9 win over Duquesne last weekend.
Louis totaled six tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks against the Dukes. His two sacks came on consecutive plays in the first quarter. He matched his single-game career high with the two sacks. He notched two in their game vs. Clemson last season.
Louis and the Panther defense held Duquesne to just 37 yards on the ground and 208 yards in total this past Saturday. Pitt is now 21-3 under Pat Narduzzi when keeping opponents under 250 yards of total offense.
HOF basketball coach dies
Hall of Fame basketball coach George Raveling has died. He was 88.
Raveling's family says he "faced cancer with courage and grace." He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015 and had a career record of 335-293 from 1972 to 1994. He coached at Washington State, Iowa and USC.
Raveling was instrumental in convincing Michael Jordan to sign with Nike, leading to a landmark contract. He also owned the original copy of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, which he donated to Villanova in 2021.
"For more than 40 years, he blessed my life with wisdom, encouragement, and friendship," Jordan said in a statement. "He was a mentor in every sense and I'll always carry deep gratitude for his guidance. I signed with Nike because of George, and without him, there would be no Air Jordan."
Marlon Wayans portrayed Raveling in the 2023 movie "Air" that focused on Nike's courtship of Jordan.
