VFW Post 3 moves on to Kelley Federation 15U finals

Trey Burgan had four hits, including a triple, to lead VFW Post 3 to a 10-1 victory over Gority Brothers Construction in the deciding third game of a 15U Kelley Federation semifinal series held at Geesey Park on Thursday.
Anthony Riccio doubled and drove in three runs for the winners, and winning pitcher Ari Holzer went six innings and allowed just one run and also had two hits at the plate.
Maverick Dutko had a hit and drove in Gority Brothers’ lone run.
VFW Post 3 will take on Coach Geno Foundation in the first of a best-of-three series beginning at Geesey Park tonight at 5:30 p.m.
In the 13U Kelley Federation semifinals, Oldschool Print and Embroidery and Davison Snack Company both advanced, but their box scores were not reported to the Mirror. The two teams will start their championship series tonight.

Titles claimed
J.J. Stultz led Mid Atlantic Sports, the Hollidaysburg entry into the CBRC Lakemont Park Summer Basketball League, to a 43-28 win over Central in the high school boys division championship game Thursday night with an 11-point effort.
Central’s Jesse Muthler led all scorers with 13 points.
In the junior high bracket, Cogan Electric (Altoona’s 9th grade entry) downed Hollidaysburg, 31-15, with Leighton Johnson scoring a game-high nine points in the first semifinal game.
In the second semifinal, Spring Cove topped Image Signs (Altoona’s 8th grade team), 29-24, and was led by Colby Gojmerac’s 14 points.
Gojmerac led all scorers in the championship game as well with 21, but Cogan Electric edged out Spring Cove, 35-33, to win the title behind 11 points from Ki’Yontye Barnes.
