REYNOLDSVILLE -- It was a very special night at Hummingbird Speedway Saturday as track owner Louie Caltagarone was recognized before the races as the track celebrated his 97th birthday.
Fans and drivers alike paid tribute to him by wearing straw hats like Caltagirone has always worn and singing happy birthday. Dozens of cupcakes were also distributed to all those that wanted one.
At intermission, all of the cars were brought out onto the track and the fans were able to go down trackside and meet-and-greet with their favorite drivers.
Extra money was donated to the paydays in five of the six divisions.
Three drivers collected their second win of the season while three others notched their first wins of the season.
Among those that collected their second wins of the season were Dennis Curry Jr. in the Ken Schaffer Excavating Pro Stocks, Coleton Longwell in the Economods, and the Josh Fields in the D. Fenton Fabrications & Mechanical Pure Stocks.
Those capturing their first checkers of the season were Doug Eck in the Srock Contracting Super Late Models, George Kephart in the Brooks Services Four-Cylinders, and Nick Erskine in the Gio's BBQ Semi-late models.
