The Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association announced its all-state team on Tuesday, and several local players were recognized.

Claysburg-Kimmel senior Bella Francona and Lady Bulldogs junior McKenna Black landed on the first team in Class 1A as did Central Cambria senior utility player Aubrey Ruddek in Class 3A.

Francona, a starter for Claysburg the last four seasons who helped C-K win three straight District 6 titles, made it as a first baseman.

“Bella’s performance on the field has been rewarded by this first team award,” Claysburg-Kimmel coach Mike Barbarini said. “She worked very hard to achieve her success. Bella is moving on to the next level (Penn Highlands softball), and I’m sure she will continue her outstanding success.”

Black made the team as a catcher after leading Claysburg with 11 doubles this season.

“McKenna has been a leader and role model for our younger girls,” Barbarini said. “Through hard work and on-the-field excellence, she has been rewarded with this first team all-state honor. I’m looking forward to seeing her get even better next year.”

In addition to the two first-teamers, freshman Isabella Paris made it to the second team for the Lady Bulldogs.

“Isabella is a young player that has played like a veteran player,” Barbarini said. “Her work ethic has proven that hard work does pay off. Our team plays off her dedication to being one of the best players she can be. I’m sure over the next three years she will be receiving more all state recognition.”

Central Cambria completed a solid season in which it made the District 6 Class 3A semifinals, and Ruddek was a big part of that as both a pitcher, position player and hitter. In addition to Ruddek, senior Keira Link was picked as second-team second baseman.

“I am excited to see Aubrey and Keira selected to the all-state team for this 2025 season,” Central Cambria coach Steve Ruddek said. “This is another great accolade on a fantastic season and career they both had at Central Cambria. I am excited to see them continue their softball careers at the next level (Aubrey at Saint Francis and Keira at UPJ). Congrats as well to many other local and LHAC players who were also selected.”

Two other players from the Mirror’s core coverage area — Tyrone’s Amariah Sprankle (shortstop) and Central’s Alexis Fetzer (utility) made the second team in Class 3A.

Other regional players recognized included — Addison Siple (Curwensville second-team pitcher), Katie Ledwich (first team catcher), Maddie Beiter (second-team utility), Megan Bilak (second-team third baseman) and Kylee Ferguson (first-team outfield) from Conemaugh Valley, Berlin Brothersvalley’s Elsie Barna (second-team catcher) and Elena Ritchey (first-team utility), Fannett-Metal’s Kylie Arnold (first-team utility) and Sadie Wolf (first-team second baseman), Bishop McCort’s Lariah Myers (second-team utility), Ferndale’s Aubrielle Leverknight (first-team shortstop), Rockwood’s Miley Pletcher (first-team shortstop), Southern Fulton’s Kamryn Pittman (second-team shortstop) and Purchase Line’s Brooklyn Walker (second-team outfield) in Class 1A.

Bald Eagle Area, which made the 3A state title game, had the Pitcher of the Year selected — Sierra Albright, who landed on the first team. She was joined by teammates Kailey Eckert (second-team catcher) and Alexa Baney (second-team outfielder).

Other 3A players picked were Penns Valley’s Taylor Bumgardner (second-team pitcher), Forest Hills’ Avery Smiach (second-team pitcher), Mylee Gdula (second-team catcher) and Ana Spangler (second-team first baseman), Westmont Hilltop’s Zoey Lynch (second-team shortstop) and Bedford’s Emily Pratt (first-team outfielder).
