Layton totals four hits to help Post 516 get Legion baseball win

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg Legion Post 516 improved to 3-2 Tuesday night, thanks to a 17-4 win in five innings over Hollidaysburg American Legion in Cambria County American Legion baseball play.

Post 516 scored 12 runs in the second inning.

McKinley Layton led the winners with four hits — including two doubles and a triple — and three RBIs to go with two hits — a double and a home run plus two RBIs — from teammate Rocco Cacciotti.

Jesse Georgiana had three hits and two RBIs for HAL (0-3).

Goodson shines

Jordon Goodson had three hits, including a grand slam and a double, as Furrer Beverage beat Barton’s Plumbing and Heating, 16-4, in four innings in an Altoona Teener League 15U game at Seitz Field.

Furrer (5-0) also got three RBIs from Conner Waite to go with two hits and an RBI from Evan Young.

Davis sparks win

Spencer Davis hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Night Train to a 3-1 win over Sheetz in an Altoona Teener 15U game at Seitz Field.

Davis finished with two hits, and went the distance for the win. He struck out 10. Teammate Preston Long drove in the other run for the winners.

MARTINSBURG — Carter McConnell had four hits and scored three runs to lead Coach Geno Foundation to a 15-1 win in five innings over Blaise Alexander in a Kelley Federation 15U game.

Brendan Miller added two hits and four RBIs to go with two hits and three RBIs from Caleb Lawther for CGF (4-0).

Brooks Decker had two hits for Blaise Alexander (3-2).

Walk-off for GB

Gority Brothers got a walk-off hit from Shane Gority that scored Brandt Hite in a 7-6 win over VFW Post 3 in a Kelley Federation 15U game at Geesey Park.

Hite finished with three runs scored. Owen Hileman had two RBIs for Gority. Thomas Brouse got the win in relief. He struck out two.

James Seymour had three hits and three RBIs for VFW. Teammate Ari Holzer added two hits and an RBI.
