Claysburg-Kimmel's high school softball team will return to the site of its 5-4 extra-inning victory over Holy Cross in the state quarterfinals when the Lady Bulldogs play at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall on Monday at 4 p.m. in the PIAA Class 1A semifinals.
C-K will take on District 4 champion Northeast Bradford, which comes into the game with a record of 14-7. The teams have only one common opponent -- Bucktail. Claysburg defeated Bucktail, 10-0, in the first round of the PIAA tournament, and Northeast Bradford beat Bucktail, 9-0, on May 27.
Northeast Bradford uses two pitchers almost equally in seniors Kelsea Moore and Makenna Callear. Orissa Gardner and Moore lead the Lady Panthers in RBIs, and Hannah Berger leads the team in batting average.
Through 19 games prior to the state playoffs, Northeast Bradford was hitting .318 with four home runs as a team.
Claysburg-Kimmel, led by Bella Francona's .506 average and Isabella Paris' 40 RBIs and eight home runs, is hitting .341 as a team with 38 home runs.
The winner will play either WPIAL champion Union or District 10 champion Cambridge Springs in the PIAA Class 1A championship game on Friday at Penn State University's Beard Field at 11 a.m.
