WINDBER — Juniata Valley senior Ella McCrum and Northern Bedford junior Bella Gable each won two individual events at the Inter-County Conference track and field championships held on Monday at Windber Stadium.

McCrum won the 1600-meter run in 5:21.08, topping Northern Bedford’s Savanna Hershberger, who set a new personal best time in 5:27.93.

Later in the meet, McCrum (2:22.37) won the 800 meters by less than a second over Southern Fulton’s Julia Madison (2:22.94). Williamsburg’s Ava Dixon (2:34.29) was third, and Juniata Valley’s Eve McCrum was fourth (2:36.98).

Gable won the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 6 inches and later won the discus with a throw of 98 feet, 1 inch.

Hershberger rebounded to win the 3200 in 11:53.85, more than a minute ahead of runner-up Rachel Russo of Windber.

The Lady Panther senior also helped Northern Bedford win the 3200 relay to open the meet alongside Aubrey Holsinger, Alyssa Yeatts and Mayleigh Ritchey in 10:47.08.

The Everett boys ran away with the boys championship, 111-84, over McConnellsburg — but the girls race came down to the smallest of margins.

Southern Huntingdon’s team score of 88 was just good enough to edge Berlin Brothersvalley’s score of 87.75, which was the result of a four-way tie for sixth in the girls high jump and a tie for fifth in the girls pole vault, which both involved Berlin competitors.
