Altoona’s Midder has lofty goals

Athlete of the week achievement: At the Igloo Meet, Midder won the boys triple jump with an effort of 46 feet, 6 1/4 inches, captured the long jump with a jump of 21 feet, 10 and a half inches, and the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.74

Season update: Midder is hoping to return to the PIAA meet after medaling there as a junior. Altoona will continue its season this week at home on Tuesday and in Chambersburg on Thursday.

How I got my start in track and field: "Moved from North Carolina to Altoona where my father grew up and ran track. I didn't know there was a sport where you could just run, so I signed up for track and field, and here I am."
