Altoona, Central earn victories

Altoona dropped the first set (25-17) to Central Dauphin East but regrouped to claim the next three (25-15, 25-9 and 25-15) in a 3-1 victory in boys high school volleyball Tuesday at the Altoona Fieldhouse.

Lukas Weathersbee led the Mountain Lions with 14 service points, including five aces, 11 kills and eight digs.

Logan Coldwell tallied 10 digs and nine points, Caleb Terza registered 30 assists and 10 digs, while Nino Yohn finished with 30 digs and eight points and Luke Mitchell had 10 kills for Altoona.

SERVICE POINTS

Central gets No. 5

MARTINSBURG — Central needed five sets to shake off Derry Area in a 3-2 victory.

The Dragons dropped the first set (25-23), claimed the next two (25-23 and 28-26), then lost the fourth (25-21) before taking teh fifth and final by a 15-13 score.

Bryson Brooks fronted the Scarlet Dragons with 20 kills, 13 digs and 11 service points, while Blake Reynolds amassed 15 digs and 10 points.

Logan Hummel dished out 38 assists, Mason Kocsis tallied 13 digs and seven kills, Hayden Smith added six kills and five blocks, and Braydon Gregg ended with eight kills for Central.

SERVICE POINTS
