Notable: This game is the first part of a tripleheader at Altoona that features the four teams playing in Class 1A out of District 6 in girls basketball and a Class 3A boys game between District 3 champion Trinity and WPIAL champion South Allegheny at 3 p.m. … Bishop Carroll’s last win against Williamsburg came in 2017. In two matchups since then, the Lady Huskies lost 66-41 in 2022 and 55-41 in the 2023 District 6 playoffs. … Williamsburg is in the PIAA quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive year. Notable: These teams did not meet in the District 6 playoffs and have not met since 2016 before Saint Joseph’s developed into a District 6 contender. The score of that 2016 game was 70-18. … This is the deepest run in the PIAA tournament for the Wolfpack, who lost to the WPIAL version of Saint Joseph in the first round last season. … Naomi Crispin is the daughter of former Penn State star and NBA player Joe Crispin, and she scored 49 points in a consolation victory over Williamsburg. … Both of Saint Joseph’s losses this year came against Bishop Carroll Catholic, and the Wolfpack own two wins over Williamsburg. … Bishop Guilfoyle Academy is in the PIAA quarterfinals for the fourth time in the last six years. Notable: South Fayette’s only two losses are in the WPIAL championship game and to a team from New York. … The Lady Lions defeated Altoona in December, 70-38, while Hollidaysburg fell to Altoona in both of its regular-season matchups, 54-38 and 57-41. … Haylie Lamonde had 19 of South Fayette’s 36 points in its loss to Peters Township in the WPIAL final. … South Fayette won the WPIAL championship last year but was upset by WPIAL fourth-place finisher Oakland Catholic in the PIAA second round. It was the second year out of three that scenario played out as WPIAL champion South Fayette lost to WPIAL fourth-place finisher Mars in the second round of the 2022 PIAA tournament. In 2023, South Fayette, also the WPIAL champion, went all the way to the PIAA championship game before it lost to Archbishop Wood, 61-54. … Hollidaysburg is in the PIAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2021, but it is the first time since 1994 the Lady Tigers have won two games to get there.
