NBC downs So. Fulton
LOYSBURG — Mylee Mitchell threw a three-hitter with 18 strikeouts to lead Northern Bedford to a 5-1 victory over Southern Fulton on Saturday in high school softball.
Ava Helsel homered to lead off the bottom of the first and drove in two runs on two hits.
Kaylee Ebersole added two hits, including a double, for the Lady Panthers.

NEW ENTERPRISE — Southern Fulton defeated Northern Bedford, 11-1, in five innings with the help of an eight-run fifth inning in high school baseball.

Lions miss playoffs
IRWIN — Altoona’s high school boys volleyball team split with South Park, 19-25, 25-21, and Penn Hills, 15-6, 15-11, at the Norwin Invitational but did not qualify for the playoffs.
The Mountain Lions lost to Gateway, 25-17, 27-25, and Hempfield, 25-21, 25-13, in pool play.
Luke Mitchell had 13 kills, 13 digs and three aces, Lukas Weathersbee had 12 kills, five blocks, nine digs and three aces, Nino Yohn had 34 digs and three aces and Max Coon finished with 26 assists and six digs for Altoona.
The junior varsity team played in the Upper St. Clair Tournament and lost to USC, 25-22, 20-25, 15-10 and defeated South Park, 25-22, 24-26, 15-12, before losing to Baldwin, 25-23, 25-23, in the quarters.
