The Altoona Area High School boys tennis team opened its season on Friday with a 5-0 win over St. Marys.

The Mountain Lions got singles wins from Luke Mitchell, Owen Wasovich and Avery Lanzendorfer. Doubles victories were earned by the teams of Aiden Aiken and Liem King-Settles, along with Max Chile and Sean Ratchford.

Tigers roll

JOHNSTOWN — Hollidaysburg is 2-0 after 5-0 win over Bishop McCort in boys high school tennis at Roxbury Park.

The Golden Tigers got singles wins from Garrett Bouchard, Felix Xu and Michael Waibel. The teams of Aamir Azad-Yvan Chen, along with Alex Arbogast-Jacob Sidney, also won.

RURAL VALLEY — The Bishop Guilfoyle Academy boys volleyball team opened its season with a 25-12, 25-11, 25-8 loss to West Shamokin.

Brenden Young had nine assists for BG, Karter Shall delivered five digs, Leo Dangler had four service points, and Justin Jiang and Liam Everett each added three kills.
