Name: Andrew Quinn

Hometown: Altoona

School: Altoona Area

Sport: Track and field

College choice: Juniata College

Other colleges considered: New Haven, Waynesburg

Why I picked Juniata: "Juniata has a good academic program. It is also closer to home. I am able to run both cross country and track. They have a young coach who believes in his athletes. I also know former high school athletes on the team."

Greatest high school achievement: Winning the Angie Gioiosa award

Cross country coach Jim D'Angelo's quote: "Andrew is living proof that hard work, commitment and dedication pays off. He is both a tenuous and smart runner who will be an asset to Juniata College's track and cross country programs."

How I got my start in track and field: "When I was 9 or 10, I ran a 5K with my mom. I enjoyed it, and then did club track for the YMCA in fourth grade. I then joined track in junior high where I ran sprints and jumped. In ninth grade, I made the switch to cross country, then distance track."

Favorite college growing up: Washington

Outside interests: Disc golf, being outside, hanging out with friends, hiking, basketball

What does getting to compete in college mean to me: "It is an honor getting to continue what I love to do. I look forward to meeting new people and running against new competition. I will continue to push myself every year to become the best version of myself."

Probable college major: Marine sciences

Parents: Tom Quinn, Jessica Woodring
