McCort’s Bassett picks Iowa

Bishop McCort wrestler Bo Bassett, the No. 1 recruit in the country for the class of 2026, committed to Iowa on Tuesday evening.

Bassett announced his decision after getting an 18-second pin in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A Duals on Tuesday night against Corry.

Bassett, a 2023-24 PIAA AA state champion at 139 pounds, is 37-0 this season while primarily competing at 145 pounds. He is 111-0 for his career with the Crushers.

Bassett had his college choices down to Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech coming into Tuesday.

He projects as a 149-pounder at the college level.

FLINTON — Glendale got eight wins via forfeit along with three pins in a 71-0 shutout of Bellwood-Antis.

Dominic Kaufman (139-pounds), Ethan Gilbey (145) and Lawson Richards (285) won by falls for the Vikings, while Tanner Ammerman (133) got a technical fall victory.

PATTON — Cambria Heights suffered two losses on the evening with one coming against Northern Bedford (42-15), and the other to Moshannon Valley (57-12).

Nolin Snider (215-pounds), Aiden Replogle (121) and Kace Clapper (139) all logged falls for the Black Panthers, while Marshall Eckenrode (160) got a pin for the Highlanders.

Against the Black Knights, Levi Link (121) and Eckenrode came through with pins for Heights.
