Clearfield graduate new Seattle QB coach

Andrew Janocko
From Mirror, wire reports
Andrew Janocko was hired as the new quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.
A graduate of Clearfield Area High School and Pitt, Janocko’s arrival is no surprise given he worked with new Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak in New Orleans and when they were both with the Minnesota Vikings.
The 36-year-old spent seven seasons with the Vikings in various offensive roles before joining the Chicago Bears as quarterbacks coach. After he was let go in the 2023 offseason, Janocko secured the Saints QBs coach job but when Dennis Allen was fired, it was pretty clear that the entire staff was free to seek employment elsewhere.
Janocko will be the Seahawks’ fifth quarterbacks coach in as many seasons. He replaces Charles London, who once was an assistant on Bill O’Brien’s staff at Penn State.

n Star defensive end Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns with the hope of better positioning himself to play in a Super Bowl. That’s according to a statement he sent to media outlets. The Browns finished last in the AFC North with a 3-14 record and general manager Andrew Berry said last week that he would not trade Garrett. Garrett is under contract with the Browns for two more seasons under a five-year, $125 million extension he signed in 2020.
n Pro Football Hall of Fame left tackle Tony Boselli has been hired as the franchise’s executive vice president of football operations. Boselli was the first draft pick in the history of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995. Team owner Shad Khan says Boselli, first-time head coach Liam Coen and Jacksonville’s next general manager will form “the football leadership unit.” Each of them will report to Khan. Boselli advised Khan during his recent coaching search and sat in during in-person interviews that led to Coen’s hiring. Boselli was a five-time Pro Bowl selection in seven seasons in Jacksonville.
n The Houston Texans are hiring Los Angeles Rams assistant Nick Caley as their offensive coordinator, a source familiar with the move told The Associated Press on Monday. The person spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the move. Caley spent last season as the passing game coordinator and tight ends coach for the Rams. He replaces Bobby Slowik, who was fired last month after two seasons in the position. The 42-year-old Caley has worked for the Rams for the past two seasons after working as an assistant for the Patriots from 2015-22.
n Washington Commanders controlling owner Josh Harris says the team name is not changing. Harris said the name is here to stay after inheriting it when he and his group bought the team from longtime owner Dan Snyder in 2023. Harris said the name has come to mean something and has been embraced by staff and fans. Harris, who grew up as a Washington football fan, had previously said upon taking over that the team would not be going back to its old name that Snyder dropped in 2020.
n Commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL will look into the “serious” allegations that Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct with several massage therapists. Nine massage therapists from five spas and wellness centers have told the Baltimore Banner that Tucker engaged in sexually inappropriate conduct during sessions from 2012-16. Tucker said in a statement last week that he has never received any complaints from a massage therapist or been told he was not welcome at a spa or other place of business.
n Hundreds of internal emails show executives of the New Orleans Saints were far more involved than previously known in providing public relations help to Catholic Church leaders as they confronted a clergy sex abuse crisis. The emails sharply undercut assurances the Saints provided five years ago when they asserted they had provided only “minimal” assistance to the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Survivors of clergy abuse say they’re disgusted by the team’s involvement. The Saints said in a statement Saturday that the team does not condone sex abuse. They also criticized the media for using leaked emails to misconstrue what they called “a well-intended effort.”
n Todd Monken has signed a contract extension to remain Baltimore’s offensive coordinator. The Ravens didn’t announce the length of Monken’s deal. His return became increasingly likely as open head coaching positions elsewhere became filled. Baltimore’s offense has been excellent in Monken’s two seasons in charge. Quarterback Lamar Jackson won MVP honors last season and may do so again this week. The 2024 Ravens averaged 6.85 yards per play, the third most in NFL history, and they set a league record with 5.76 yards per rush.
