Huskies come up short vs. Rangers

SIDMAN — Bishop Carroll had three shooters post career best marks but it wasn’t enough in a close 1305-1286 loss to Forest Hills on Thursday in high school rifle action.

Karli Schoop shot a 262-6 to lead the Huskies, while Andrew Clapper (256-5), Eli Cunningham (256-4) and Preston Gillin (254-1) all had personal bests.

The Rangers’ Avery Smiach shot a 277-10 to win the competition.

Mustangs downed

PORTAGE — Portage’s Jonah Irvin led the way by shooting a competition high of 278 but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs suffered a three point loss (1,273-1,270) to Meyersdale.

Hailey Robertson had a 268 to pace the Red Raiders.

Tyrone Christian defeated

BERLIN — Christian Harris shot a 195 to finish as Tyrone Christian’s top shooter in a 1173-829 loss to Berlin Brothersvalley.

The Mountaineers’ Levi Whipkey won the competition by shooting 262.
