Altoona hockey gets big win

JOHNSTOWN — The Altoona Area High ice hockey team improved to 6-4 Thursday night, thanks to a 10-3 win over Westmont Hilltop at 1st Summit Arena inside the War Memorial Arena.

Altoona broke open a 1-1 game with five goals in the second for a 6-2 lead.

Altoona got two goals each from Cayden Helsel, Noah Staines and Ricky Crum. They also got solo efforts from Elijah Staines, Connor Stivers and Carter Panick in a game.

Altoona plays Forest Hills on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Northern Cambria Recreational Center.
