WAYNESBORO -- Emma Bettwy, who claimed the vault and bars, won the all-around competition with a 34.75 to lead Altoona to a 138.8-128.8 victory over Waynesboro Thursday night in high school gymnastics.
It was the Lady Lions' season opener.
Katie Bettwy was second with a 34.75 for the Lady Lions, while Maddy Pastore was first in the beam and Zoe Weaver won the floor exercise.
"It was an outstanding team performance for the first meet of the season," Altoona coach Mark Biseli said. "The team was led by Emma Bettwy and Katie Bettwy in all-around, and Maddy Pastore on beam."

NORTHERN CAMBRIA -- Jonah Irvin shot a 247 to finish third in the competition as Portage held off Northern Cambria with a 1,199-1,165 win in high school rifle Thursday.
Anna Griffiths finished with a 283 to claim medalist honors for the Colts.
