Quinn, McCrum place first

Altoona's Andrew Quinn came out on top in the boys race at the annual Blair-Huntingdon County high school cross country race at Logan Elementary School on Monday.
Quinn finished in 17 minutes, 46 seconds and was honored along with his senior teammates Enoch VanEgdom, Braden Lyle and Camdyn Woomer, who finished third in 18:06.
Tyrone's Thomas Sutt was fourth in 18:20.
On the girls side, Juniata Valley's Ella McCrum finished nearly a minute before Central's Lanee Berkhimer in 20:15 to win. Berkhimer, who finished in 21:07, edged Altoona's Ashlyn Noce, who was third in 21:19.
Altoona honored seniors Alana Rinehart, Eva Drumm, Mary Stoltz, Gracie Gioiosa and Anna Resig.
The Blair County and Huntingdon schools raised funds for cancer awareness for the American Association for Cancer Research in conjunction with the Altoona PA Runners.

MORRISDALE -- The Cambria Heights boys cross country team beat West Branch, 15-49, and the Heights girls won, 20-38.
Heights' Mason Kline won the boys race, and Savannah Hoover won the girls race.

Denis shoots 80
STATE COLLEGE -- Hollidaysburg sophomore Crosby Denis shot a first-round 80 at the PIAA Class 3A girls golf championships at the Penn State White Course.
Denis was hurt by making double bogey on a pair of par 5 holes, No. 3 and No. 18 but did make a birdie on No. 6.
Denis is currently tied for 22nd in the field of 36. Elizabeth Forward junior Mya Morgan leads the event after shooting a 4-under par 68.
In Class 2A, District 6 champion Madison Koshko, a St. Joseph's junior, shot a 1-over par 73 and leads a field of 38.
Central Cambria senior Jazmine Boland shot a career-best 87 and is in 24th.
Bedford's Josh Topper shot a 77 and is tied for 28th in a 2A boys field led by Alan Evans of
Schuylkill Haven and Ethan Dai of Quaker Valley, who both carded a 68.
Cedar Crest's Dylan Ramsey shot a 66 for the best round of the day to lead the Class 3A boys competition. State College's Luke McGraw, who won the District 6 title, shot a 3-under par 69 and is tied for sixth.

TYRONE -- The Tyrone junior varsity football team dominated Penns Valley, 41-12, in its season finale.
Jesse Parks scored three touchdowns, and Ben Walk threw three touchdown passes.

Villano prevails
TYRONE -- Von Villano shot a 1-under par 53 to claim Sinking Valley Country Club's Par 3 18-hole Challenge on Sunday.
Andrew and Gregory Ferguson tied for second. Both shot an even par 54.
Villano also had two closest-to-the-pin awards. Anthony Evangelisto, Mike Wilkinson, Tim Keech, Drew Brennan, Tony Minnoia and Brady Naylor also won closest-to-the-pin awards.
