GROVE CITY -- Ashlyn Noce finished second overall and helped Altoona to a second-place finish as a team at the John Sample Invitational in high school cross country on Saturday at Memorial Park.
Noce ran the race in 19:40, and the Lady Lions finished behind only champion Hampton among 14 total teams.
On the boys side, Dean Sunderland was Altoona's top finisher with an eighth-place finish in 16:42, and the Lions finished seventh out of 18 teams.
Xander Frederick finished third for Altoona in the junior varsity race in 18:08, and Emma Etters won the junior high girls race for Altoona in 12:16 in a race with 156 runners.

TYRONE -- Cam Abrams, Mason Eckenrode and Nate Conaway scored goals, and sophomore goalkeeper Owen Garrison had a shutout as Cambria Heights defeated Tyrone, 3-0, to improve to 9-4 in high school boys soccer on Saturday.
