CC teams capture LHAC titles

PORTAGE -- The three section champions in girls cross country in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference, Richland, Central Cambria and Clearfield, squared off in dual meets, and Central Cambria came away with the title at Maple Crest Golf Course.
Individually, Abigail Sheehan and Alaina Sheehan finished in seventh- and eighth-place overall to lead the Lady Devils.
Lanee Berkhimer of Central was the top area individual finisher in 18:57, good enough for fifth. Bedford's Chloe May won the race in 17:44.8. Hollidaysburg's Rylan Carney was 10th in 19:50.7.
On the boys side, there was a race-off for the Section 1 championship between Bedford, Somerset and Chestnut Ridge and to take on fellow section champions Central Cambria and Bellefonte. After all was completed, the Red Devils came away with the title.
The Red Devils' Dom Kuntz brought home the individual race championship with a time of 16:20 over Bellefonte's Kaiden Williams and teammate and third-place finisher Ethan Haycisak, who finished in 16:39.
Reuben Manfred was Hollidaysburg's top finisher in ninth place with a time of 17:04.
