JOHNSTOWN -- Central Cambria, the No. 3 seed, upset top-seeded Westmont Hilltop, 4-1, to win the District 6 Class 2A team tennis championship on Tuesday at Westmont Hilltop High School.
Marley Ratchford led the Lady Devils with a three-set win at No. 1 singles, and Lydia Paskowski and Ally Morgan won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Taryn Ream and Maddy Dietz prevailed at No. 1 doubles.
"This win is what we work for every season,'' Central Cambria coach Kim Cavalier said. "My goal as a coach is to get the district team title. That's what it's about -- the team title. That's just always been my goal every year. The singles and doubles district titles are great and icing on the cake if you get one. The team title -- the entire team gets that. We all have to work together for a common goal, and we definitely succeeded in doing that this year. Having a 10-year run at a district title is amazing.''
Central Cambria will compete in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Tyrone prevails
TYRONE -- Tyrone improved its record to 6-8 with a 5-2 victory over Shanksville-Stonycreek in a regular season match.
Nicole Ramsey, Emma Witkamp, Ezri Bumgarner and Cassidy Fleck won singles matches for the Lady Eagles, and Mariah Miles and Jenna Watson won a doubles match.
Shanksvilledropped to 2-9.
