DeLeo makes history in BG’s win

Emma Marasco scored five goals Wednesday night to lead the Bishop Guilfoyle Academy girls soccer team to a 6-1 win over Bald Eagle Area in high school play at Tom Irwin Field.

The win was No. 100 for coach Joe DeLeo, who came into the season with a 95-63-3 record for the 5-1 Lady Marauders.

He has been coaching soccer since 2000, serving as the BG coach since the 2016 season. In his ninth season, DeLeo has won two District 6 championships and led the team to the semifinals in the PIAA Class 1A Tournament last year.

Ava Geishauser and Hailey DeGol each had two assists for BG in a game it led, 4-1, at halftime.

Bald Eagle fell to 5-1-1.

Penn Cambria dominates

CRESSON -- Meghan Andersen tallied four goals to power Penn Cambria past Westmont Hilltop, 9-4, and even its record at 3-3.

Aubrey Rickens, Chloe Karabinos, Kayla Galovich, Megyn Stipanovich and Sydney Lee also scored for the Lady Panthers.

On Monday, Andersen scored three goals, and Danielle Farabaugh had two in a 10-1 win over Chestnut Ridge.
