PORTAGE -- Portage swept Penn Cambria, with the boys winning, 24-31, and the girls prevailing, 24-32, in high school cross country on Wednesday.

Nolan Westover won the boys race for Portage, and Josephine White won the girls race.

WATERFALL -- The Northern Bedford County High School boys soccer team cruised past Forbes Road, 8-1, on two goals apiece from Max Gochnour, Alex Kochara and Dhylan Miller.

Weston Hart and D'Angelo Wojick also scored for the Black Panthers, who improved to 2-0. Keeper Ben Steele allowed just the one goal.

Lauren Imler delivered 19 service points, including four aces, for the Lady Bulldogs, and Ava Dibert and Lauren Roxby each had five kills.

JOHNSTOWN -- Ferndale defeated Portage in girls volleyball in five sets, 25-21, 20-25, 25-9, 17-25, 15-11.

Calla Miko and Kierra McCarty each had eight kills for Portage, and Lyndsey Castel added seven. Mya Selapak contributed 24 assists, and Kylie Hess added 24 digs and nine service points.

JV: Ferndale, 23-25, 25-16, 15-9.

AAHS boys win

The Altoona Area High School boys golf team evened its record at 3-3 with a 471-504 win over Central Mountain at Park Hills Golf Club.

Kai Hillegas earned medalist honors with a 74 for the Mountain Lions, and Jamison Beachy led Central Mountain with an 80.

LORETTO -- Portage's Jonah Irvin claimed medalist honors with a 36, but the Mustangs fell to River Valley, 214-220, in boys golf at Immergrun Golf Club.

Jake Pynos shot a 37 for River Valley.

Lady Lions win

The Altoona girls golf team topped Clearfield, 159-171, behind Ellie Filer's medalist score of 39 at Park Hills Golf Club.

Filer beat Clearfield's top scorer by 14 strokes.
