Clearfield takes home top honor

CRESSON -- Clearfield's score of 153 was the lowest of four high school girls golf teams competing in a nine-hole match at the Summit Country Club on Thursday, and Rowen Mattern had a medalist score of 48.

Bishop Guilfoyle Academy finished second and went 2-1 with a score of 164 led by Eva Bagley's 51.

Kiya Thomas carded a team-best 52 for Penn Cambria, which shot 178 and topped Forest Hills, which forfeited due to not having three players finish.

Clearfield is now 4-0 on the season.

CLEARFIELD (153): Mattern 48, Miles 51, Gearhart 54.

BISHOP GUILFOYLE (164): Bagley 51, Wilson 55, Iapolucci 58.

PENN CAMBRIA (178): Thomas 52, Glass 66, Durbin 60.

BLAIRSVILLE -- Jonah Irvin's medalist score of 37 lifted Portage to a 215-252 victory over Homer-Center in a nine-hole high school boys golf match at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Course.

Kaiden Zock added a 43 for the Mustangs.

HOMER-CENTER (252): Rado 41, Coy 43, Birchall 53, McCracken 56, Voda 59.
