Three players from high schools in the Mirror's core coverage area were selected as Pennsylvania State Baseball Coaches Association first-team all state players recently.
Hollidaysburg's Carson Kensinger made the 5A squad as an infielder, Central's Griffin Snowberger made it in 3A as an infielder, and Claysburg-Kimmel's Mason Campagna made the 1A team as a catcher.
Hollidaysburg's Jake Hileman was a 5A second-team outfielder, and Altoona's Tanner Stroup was a 6A second-team utility player.
This was the first year the organization put out an all-state team.
Each district compiled their list of nominations within all classifications and presented them to the all-state committee for review and selection.
Other first-team area selections included Moshannon Valley's Tanner Kephart in 1A and Northern Cambria's Shaun Gisler in 2A.
Area second-team selections included Moshannon Valley's Rocco Reifer in 1A and Chestnut Ridge's Nate Whysong in 3A.
