The Mirror coverage area's three District 6 champions in high school baseball and softball have all been rewarded with home games in Monday's first round of play.
Hollidaysburg's baseball team will host WPIAL third-place finisher Franklin Regional at 4 p.m. in a Class 5A game, and at the same time in Claysburg, the Lady Bulldogs softball team will host WPIAL fourth-place finisher West Greene in a 1A game.
Central Cambria's baseball team, coming off its first-ever District 6 championship, will host WPIAL third-place finisher South Allegheny at 6 p.m. in its new baseball complex.
Two other area baseball teams, which finished as District 6 runners-up, will go on the road but not have to play true road games.
In Class 3A, Central will take on WPIAL champion Avonworth at Seneca Valley High School at 2 p.m. Avonworth is coming off a 14-inning win over defending PIAA Class 3A champion Riverside.
Bishop Carroll Catholic will take on District 9 champion Clarion at DuBois' Showers Field at 6:30 p.m. in a game that will follow District 9 champion Punxsutawney playing Riverside in a 3A game at 4 p.m.
The winners of Monday's games advance to Thursday's quarterfinal round.
