Big 2nd inning sparks Portage

DAVIDSVILLE -- Portage racked up 14 runs in the second inning en route to a 15-0 win over Conemaugh Township in three innings Thursday in high school softball play.

Lyndsey Castel led the Lady Mustangs with a single, double and triple in addition to knocking in three runs, while Adasyn Trusik delivered three RBIs on two hits.

Portage, which had 12 hits, got two apiece from Tori Harrison and Kendall Stancovich as well as two RBIs by Kelsey Kunko.

CRESSON -- A five-run fourth inning was more than enough for Penn Cambria in a 6-3 win over Somerset.

Winning pitcher Patty Wagner struck out seven, while Alyse Rabatin and Marlie Shaffer knocked in two runs apiece for the Lady Panthers.

Grand slam sparks C-K

CLAYSBURG -- McKenna Black smacked a grand slam as part of a five-run sixth inning that broke a tie and allowed Claysburg-Kimmel to earn an 8-3 win over Southern Huntingdon.

Savannah Crissman recorded three hits and knocked in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, while winning pitcher Launa Musselman struck out six with one walk.

JOHNSTOWN -- Central Cambria amassed 17 hits, while winning pitcher Rowyn Ruddek held Richland to three in a 10-0 Lady Red Devils' win.

Keira Link fronted CC with four hits, while Sophia Blasko and Katie George tallied three each, and Katie Scott and Lakelynn Campbell came up with two apiece.
