Lady Red Devils break out big bats in shutout win

EBENSBURG -- Central Cambria pounded out 14 hits in just four innings of a 15-0 win over Bishop McCort in high school softball Tuesday.

Olivia Janosik recorded three hits, Katie George and Rowyn Ruddek collected two apiece, while winning pitcher Aubrey Ruddek struck out six.

HUNTINGDON-- Layna Dibert registered two hits, including a homer, and drove home three runs to lead Tyrone to a 9-6 win over Huntingdon.

JOHNSTOWN -- Penn Cambria and Westmont Hilltop combined for 38 hits and 27 runs as the Lady Panthers were able to outlast the Lady Hilltoppers, 14-13 in nine innings.

Sophia Rabatin and Izzy Andersen had four hits each, Emily Cully totaled three and Kyra Vinglish and Marlie Shaffer came through with two each for Penn Cambria.

Patty Wagner drove home two runs, Andersen and Shaffer added two RBIs each for PC.

JV wins big

WILLIAMSBURG -- Juniata Valley registered 19 hits as it scored in all but two innings of a 10-1 victory over Williamsburg.

Haylie Thompson recorded two hits and four RBIs, Ava Allison and Bethany DeVore, who earned the win with 11 strikeouts, delivered three hits and knocked in two runs, while Kassidy Watson had three RBIs and Braelyn Hall and Kelsey Ersek tallied two hits for the Lady Green Hornets.

Losing pitcher Kara Lansberry, who struck out eight, accounted for both of the Lady Blue Pirates' hits, including a solo home run.

Defense hurts BC

EBENSBURG -- Bishop Carroll battled back after Johnstown put up a seven-run second inning, but seven errors in the field didn't help the Lady Huskies in a 10-8 loss.

Adelyn Myers and Alicia Heinrich came through with two hits and three RBIs apiece for BC, while Emily Olienyk totaled two hits and knocked in two runs and Adison Myers delivered two hits as well.
