Lady Eagles have big inning in win

JOHNSTOWN -- Tyrone downed Johnstown, 19-4, in high school softball action on Friday.

Sam Shaw delivered three hits, including a home run, and five RBIs, Teagan Sharer and Lucy Fogleman each had three hits and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Kaitlyn Rockwell and Ally McNelis each added two hits.

Tyrone which scored 10 runs in the second inning, improved its record to 6-6 on the season.

Bulldogs cruise

THREE SPRINGS -- Emalee Cavender had five hits, including two home runs, and drove in six runs to lead Claysburg-Kimmel to an 18-0 win in five innings over Southern Huntingdon.

The Lady Bulldogs (11-1) also got four hits and an RBI from McKenna Black to go with three hits and an RBI from Alexa Francona.

Cavender got the win. She struck out five and walked two in handing the Lady Rockets their third loss in 12 games.

Panthers edged

CRESSON -- Alivia Nicklow fired a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and also drove in two runs in Huntingdon's 5-2 victory over Penn Cambria.

Kyra Vinglish delivered two hits for Penn Cambria, and Patty Wagner struck out nine batters.

Cumberland Valley needed three innings to beat Altoona, 18-0, at Logan Elementary Field.

Tigers tumble

NEW PARIS -- Britni Motter struck out 13 and gave up one run in five innings to lead Chestnut Ridge over Hollidaysburg, 12-2, in six innings.

Bree Harbaugh homered and finished with four RBIs for the Lady Lions. Grace Lazor and Maya Wingard each had three hits while wingard added two RBIs. With the win, the Lady Lions improved to 11-1 on the season.

The Lady Tigers (5-7) got a solo RBI effort from Hallee Chandler.

CC wins late

EBENSBURG -- Cam Matlin's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth scored Rowyn Ruddek to lead Central Cambria past Penns Valley, 3-2, in extra innings.

The Lady Red Devils (10-4) got solo home runs from Keira Link and Katie Scott.

Losing pitcher Taylor Bumgardner struck out 10 in nine innings. With the loss, the Lady Rams dropped to 5-4.
