Ellis uses offense to lead Lady Dragons to victory

JOHNSTOWN -- Bralyn Ellis recorded three hits, including two home runs, while driving in five runs for Central in a 17-2 six-inning victory over Bishop McCort Monday in high school softball play.

Aubry Rhodes came through with three hits and three RBIs, Madison Kennedy smacked four hits and knocked in two runs, Alexis Fetzer accounted for two hits and two runs batted in and Kaylee Kensinger added two RBIs for the Lady Dragons.

Valley wins big

ALEXANDRIA -- Juniata Valley plated a combined nine runs in the second and third innings en route to a 13-4 victory over Bellwood-Antis (2-10).

Haylie Thompson, Kassidy Watson and Brooklyn Harmon all had two hits apiece for the Lady Green Hornets (5-5).

Parker Martin, Lainey Quick and Kailynn Hinish tallied two hits each for the Lady Blue Devils.

C-K takes two

CLAYSBURG -- In the first of two games, Claysburg-Kimmel was able to push across three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead before holding off Berlin Brothersvalley, 6-5.

Winning pitcher Emalee Cavender roped two hits for the Lady Bulldogs, who were outhit by a 10-6 margin, while Savannah Crissman tripled and Jaylee Swindell doubled.

In a second game, this one against Moshannon Valley, Claysburg-Kimmel smashed five home runs and collected 12 hits in a 10-0 five-inning win over Moshannon Valley.

Bella Francona smacked two homers as part of her four hits and four RBIs, while Cavender had three hits, including two blasts, and posted three runs batted in, and McKenna Black hit a home run while knocking in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Winning pitcher Launa Musselman limited the Damsels to four hits while striking out five.

Tigers hold on

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Maria Malone smashed a two-run homer and totaled four RBIs in leading Hollidaysburg to a 9-7 victory over Richland.

Lexi Peacock led the Lady Tigers with three hits, and winning pitcher Mikaylah Vincent struck out seven.

WILLIAMSBURG -- Mount Union scored at least two runs in all but the third and fourth innings of play en route to a 16-5 victory over Williamsburg.

The Lady Pirates, which had seven errors, got three hits from Alex Giansante, two from MeCenzie Calderwood and a solo homer by Kara Lansberry.
