Area volleyball teams both handed setbacks

CARLISLE -- Altoona suffered a three set loss to Carlisle on the road by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-19 in boys high school volleyball Tuesday night.

Sam Kessinger dished out 21 assists and had two digs, Caleb Fries totaled 12 kills and five digs, Noah Fries added 12 digs and four kills and Nino Yohn collected 10 digs for the Mountain Lions.

Records: Altoona (4-3); Carlisle (9-1).

JV: Carlisle won 2-1 (23-25, 25-17, 15-10).

Dragons defeated

MARTINSBURG -- Central fell to 2-5 with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-21 loss to DuBois in boys volleyball.

The Scarlet Dragons got nine kills from Bryson Brooks to go with five service points and four kills from Christian Heuston. Logan Hummel added 16 assists.

Golden Eagles edged

CLEARFIELD -- Noah Newlin captured the No. 3 singles and the doubles team of Ethan Dasher and Logan Harpster came out on top for Tyrone in its 3-2 loss to Clearfield in high school boys tennis.
