Altoona earns victory No. 3

Altoona swept Chambersburg, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17, in high school boys volleyball on Thursday at the AAHS Fieldhouse.

Caleb Fries finished with 13 kills, two blocks and five digs, and Sam Kessinger had 35 assists, five digs, four aces, one kill and one block for the Mountain Lions.

Nino Yohn contributed eight digs and an ace for Altoona (3-1).

MARTINSBURG -- Forest Hills topped Central, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18, in high school boys volleyball despite eight kills by the Scarlet Dragons' Bryson Brooks.

Christian Heuston added four kills, and Logan Hummel dished out 20 assists for Central.

Pirates split

WARFORDSBURG -- Williamsburg defeated Fannett-Metal, 73-36, and fell to Southern Fulton, 70-48, in high school track and field.

The Blue Pirates got wins by Ryland Corle in the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump and wins by Latrell Barroner in the 100-meter dash and the long jump.

The Lady Pirates edged Southern Fulton, 40-38, but lost to Fannett-Metal, 58-36.
