Tyrone holds off Penns Valley rally

SPRING MILLS -- Despite giving up two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Tyrone baseball team hung on for a 3-2 win at Penns Valley Thursday in high school action.

The Golden Eagles (2-2) got two hits each from Landon Hamer and Conner McClure and solo RBI efforts from Ryan Light, Ashton Walk and Wyatt Kustenborder.

Winning pitcher Dylan Ewing struck out three and did not walk a batter.

MARTINSBURG -- Wyatt Dilling struck out five, and helped himself out with two hits and three RBIs as Central downed Bishop Guilfoyle, 14-4, in five innings.

Hunter Smith roped two doubles and added three RBIs to go with two hits and two RBIs from Griffin Snowberger. Teammates Troy McNichol and Mason Byler added two hits.

Guilfoyle got two RBIs from Joey Hofer.

LILLY -- In a game that featured 39 hits, 15 errors and 15 base on balls, Penn Cambria lost to Forest Hills, 32-16.

The Panthers, who trailed 19-10 after three innings, got four hits and three RBIs from Easton Semelsberger to go with four RBIs and three hits from Preston Farabaugh. Mason Mento added two RBIs while teammate Logan Price added two hits and two RBIs.

In a game from Wednesday, Caden Gibbons had three hits and two RBIs for Penn Cambria in a 7-5 loss to Bishop McCort.

Semelsberger and Farabaugh each added two hits, and teammate Mento added two RBIs. Four of McCort's seven runs were unearned as the Panthers, who out-hit McCort 10-4, made six errors in the game.
