TYRONE -- Amanda Sprankle hit a grand slam in the first inning on Thursday afternoon to spark the Tyrone softball team to a 16-13 victory over Clearfield in high school action.
Six of the Tyrone hitters finished with multiple hits as the Lady Eagles improved to 2-1. Sprankle finished with five RBIs.
Teammate KK Brodzina added four hits and three RBIs in a game Tyrone led, 11-6 after three innings.

Cavender shines
CLAYSBURG -- Emalee Cavender tossed one-hit ball for four innings, and added three hits and two RBIs as Claysburg-Kimmel beat Southern Fulton, 13-0, in five innings.
Cavender finished with nine strikeouts and three walks. Zakera Bush and Zailee Bush each had two hits.
Teammate Jaylee Swindell added two RBIs in a game Claysburg led, 10-2, after just two innings of play.

LEWISBERRY -- Lilly Snyder had three hits, including one for a double, for Altoona in an 11-4 loss at Red Land in a game from Wednesday.
Kaya Sprankle added two hits for Altoona, which fell to 0-2.
